A FLOOD hit library lending area is shut until Monday after “cascades of water”
gushed down from the roof during a torrential downpour.
Southampton’s Central Library closed on Thursday morning amid health and safety fears over water damaged electrics. Engineers believe a cracked downpipe caused a huge build up of water, which then began running through the light fittings in the ceiling.
No books were damaged.
Staff are situated outside the library if anyone wishes to return their books.
Those due to return them on Thursday, Friday or Saturday, will not be fined.
