A LONG-RUNNING dispute looks to be over between Alresford Town Council and a former councillor.
Former member Robin Atkins had complained to the Audit Commission, the local government watchdog, over the council accounts for 2006-07. Now three years later the commission has finally signed off the accounts and made several recommendations to the council.
In a statement the council said: “Following complaints made by Robin Atkins and Pam Stevens, the Audit Com-mission have, after three years of investigation, given the council a clean bill of health.”
The council said it had decided not to accept the Audit Commission recommendations and so would not be making any early repayment of the loan. It would cost £8,700 for repayment of the £69,000 loan from the Public Works Loans Board.
