A DRUNKEN man ignored a police order and kicked a victim in the face outside a Southampton pub.
Inspector Martin Jackson was on his way home when he came across the fracas outside the Square Balloon pub.
Simon Welcome had confronted Mark Hodder, a stranger, and punched him to the ground before booting him in the face.
Prosecutor Charles Cochand told the city crown court the officer, on his way home, told Welcome: “Police, pack it in” but Welcome kicked him again, leaving the impression of his shoe on his eye.
He was then seen to discard several items, including a bag with white powder residue.
Welcome, 35, of Anderby Road, Millbrook, admitted causing actual bodily harm and possessing cocaine. He received a 51-week suspended sentence plus 150 hours’ community service and must pay costs and compensation totalling £650.
