AN EMOTIONAL mum has made a desperate appeal to find her missing son almost one month after he vanished without a trace.

Janet Verge broke down in tears as she begged anyone who knows where her eldest son Jason is to call police.

She also appealed directly to Jason to call home and let his family know he is OK.

The 23-year-old has not been seen since mysteriously disappearing on Wednesday October 20 following an appointment with the job centre.

Speaking to the Daily Echo, mum-offour Janet said: “On the last day we saw him Jason came to the house. He was happy. He was talking about his plans and said that he had found a new place to live but was looking for somewhere to stay in the meantime.

“When he left he was fine and he was going to meet his brother at the library.

“I just wish he would come home.

Anybody who has seen him, please, let the police know. If you have information, please come forward.”

Janet said not knowing what had happened was causing particular distress to her youngest child Nathan, 12, who has become clingy since Jason disappeared.

She added: “He cries at night and just wants Jason to come home. It’s awful.”

Appealing to her son just to phone and let them know he is safe, Janet added: “If you are staying out there, please just borrow a phone and let us know you are fine and then we can understand what is going on.”

The night he disappeared Jason, a Saints fan, had been due to meet a friend in a pub but failed to call and failed to turn up.

He suffers from a muscle-wasting disease called myotonic dystrophy and although he doesn’t require regular medication he cannot walk far and becomes easily tired.

He has not withdrawn any money since he went missing and does not have a mobile phone with him.

Detectives from Hampshire’s major crime department, which investigates the most serious crimes including stranger rape and murder, are leading the hunt to find him.

But despite appeals and CCTV of Jason’s last known movements, there has been little new information given to police to help trace him.

On the day he vanished, Jason had been to visit his parents Janet and Martin in Woolston before meeting his brother Simon in the city centre at 1pm.

Shortly before 3pm he is captured on CCTV cameras leaving a hostel where Simon is living in Bellevue Road, walking down through London Road into the city centre, where he met a blonde haired woman and they stopped to talk.

He attended the job centre around 3.15pm and has not been seen since.

Anyone with information or who thinks they have seen Jason should contact the Operation Gulix team at Hulse Road on 101.
