A HAMPSHIRE TV presenter has warned that children across the county could become ‘“nature starved” if they don’t spend more time outdoors.
Chris Packham, who fronts Springwatch on BBC 2, believes that knowledge and awareness of the natural world is a vital part of every child’s education.
Chris is backing a new initiative by the Organic Milk Cooperative to encourage children in Southampton to get outside and learn about organic farming. The campaign will run alongside the launch of the new Cub Scouts Global Conservation Badge.
The south east’s 28,000 Cub Scouts are being urged to take part in the new badge, which can be gained by undertaking a series of outdoor activities.
Chris said: “Many children have never visited a working farm and have no idea where the milk on their breakfast table comes from. OMSCo’s Cub Scouts campaign is a fantastic initiative that helps children enjoy the great outdoors and highlights the benefits of increased animal and plant life on organic farms.”
