A Southampton man suffered a fractured skull when he was attacked in the city.

The 22-year-old was found in Lodge Road in the early hours of the morning by police.

Two police discovered him lying on a small section of ground that forms the triangle with Bevois Valley Road, Portswood Road and Thomas Lewis Way.

He was taken to Southampton General Hospital where he is being treated for his injuries.

It is believed there had been an argument between the victim and another man a short time before.

Four witnesses have already been found and a 19-year-old suspect from Southampton arrested.

Officer say there may have been other witnesses both on foot and in vehicles who may have seen what happened at 2.25am on Friday.
