SOUTH coast rivals Southampton and Portsmouth will go head to head tonight in a battle for lottery cash for community projects.
And Daily Echo readers could hold the key to the transformation of Southampton’s Daisy Dip park in a public vote for £50,000 grant funding.
The Flower Roads Residents and Tenants Association scheme proposes a multi-use games area for sports activities, skateboard park, model car racing track, as well as improved seating and picnic areas. And the association is appealing to Daily Echo readers to help secure the cash with by taking part in public phone vote.
Southampton City Council has agreed to match the £50,000 sum up for grabs. The police, local MP Caroline Nokes , and councillors are backing the project. Daisy Dip is competing with The Hayling College’s Hi Rock – Hayling Island Rock project and will appear on ITV Meridian from 6pm tonight as part of The People’s Millions giveaway.
