POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a teenager allegedly assaulted a police officer in Southampton.
The officer was left with a suspected fractured ankle as he tried to arrest the teen on Portsmouth Road, near the Itchen Bridge The 19-year-old from Southampton had been suspected of attacking a 32-year-old man in Bridge Road minutes before.
Police are investigating how the officer was hurt during the incident on Saturday afternoon at about 4pm.
