A HAMPSHIRE charity is helping a record number of people just a year after it was feared it would have to close.

Winchester Trinity Centre, which specialises in helping the homeless and vulnerable, is welcoming around 100 people each night.

Thanks to increased fundraising, loans, a council grant and being designated as one of the mayor’s charities in 2009, the centre is now back in the black.

Mr Walton said: “We had to sell the only key asset we had left which was our old building in St Paul’s Hill. We now have cash from the sale of the building and money from Winchester City Council in our reserves.”

Contact the charity, now at Bradbury House in Durngate Place, Winchester, on 01962 842827 for more information.
