IT is the one time of year you can don a Santa suit and run around Southampton without looking silly.

Now charity Christian Aid has urged budding Father Christmases to run for their charity.

They want to enter their own team of Santas to run, jog or stroll 5km around Southampton Common for the annual Santa dash on Sunday, December 12.

The money raised will help people in the world’s poorest communities.

Helen Burgess, events fundraising officer at Christian Aid, said: “Seeing hundreds of Santas descend on the Common on a Sunday morning is definitely a sight worth seeing. Whether you run, jog or stroll it’s a great way to have fun with your friends and get into the festive spirit while raising money for a good cause.”

To register call 01395 222308.

It costs £12 per person, which includes a Santa suit and Christian Aid running vest. Each runner is asked to raise an extra £50 to fight to end poverty.
