AN INDUSTRIAL building in Eastleigh was left largely destroyed by a fire last night.

A fire broke out in the factory unit in Brookwood Industrial Estate, in Brookwood Avenue, at about 7pm.

Up to 50 fire-fighters from Eastleigh, St Mary’s, Hightown, Redbridge, Beaulieu, Romsey, Winchester, Bishops Waltham, Lyndhurst and Havant battled the blaze until 10.15pm. Nobody was said to be injured.

The brick and clad building with an asbestos roof, measuring 59ft by 42ft, was said to be 75 per cent destroyed.

The exact cause of the blaze has not been found.
