GUESTS on board Southampton’s Queen Mary 2, Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth will not miss a minute of the royal wedding next April.

Each of Cunard’s three ships has a West End-style theatre, which can accommodate hundreds of passengers, which will screen a special satellite broadcast of the marriage of Prince William to Kate Middleton at Westminster Abbey on Friday, April 29.

Downing Street announced it would be a public holiday.

Queen Mary 2 will be in the middle of an Atlantic crossing between New York and Southampton, Queen Victoria is due to be in the Mediterranean, while Queen Elizabeth heads towards her home in the city’s docks.

Cunard’s Southampton-based president, Peter Shanks, said: “The day will be one of celebration on all our ships and that evening’s dinner will have a commemorative menu and a champagne toast to the couple.

“Royal weddings don’t happen that often and with Cunard’s impeccable connections with Buckingham Palace we intend to ensure that our Red Ensign ships lead the British merchant marine in marking this momentous day.’’
