LIKE a pair of giddy cockatoos, Jedward brought their own brand of chaos and mayhem to Southampton last night.

The quiff-haired identical twins were rapturously greeted at the city’s Guildhall by hundreds of screaming fans.

Having made their name on last year’s X Factor show, the 19-year-old brothers have achieved a cult status, as well as fame and fortune, under the watchful eye of mentor and show judge, Louis Walsh.

Last night’s gig was part of John and Edward Grimes’ Planet Jedward tour, which has seen them play more than 60 gigs nationwide. Before jumping on stage at the Guildhall, Jedward took time to sign autographs and meet adoring female fans.

The multi-millionaire musicians put on an action-packed show, performing covers of Lady Gaga, Queen, The Ramones, Britney Spears and Blink-182.

They bounced onto the stage to deliver a strange and unique performance. But their energetic and manic dance moves and catchy tunes soon had the audience busting moves and throwing shapes in the aisles.

Abbie Veck, a 16-year-old Jedward fan who won tickets to the show in a Daily Echo competition, said: “This is crazy. It was love at first sight. I’ve seen Jedward 11 times.

“They are fun, bubbly and they just do what they want to do,”

Edward said afterwards: “We were so excited about doing the show.” And with that the twins returned to Planet Jedward.

The dynamic duo’s debut single Under Pressure reached number one in the Irish Singles Chart and peaked at number two in the UK.

Following the success of their debut single the twins released a cover of Blink-182’s 1999 hit All the Small Things, which reached number 6 on the UK Indie Chart.

The launch of their debut album Planet Jedward coincided with their fly-on-the-wall documentary Jedward Let Loose which was shown on ITV 2. The documentary followed the twins as they prepared for their tour.
