AN investigation is underway this morning after a woman’s body was discovered floating in a Hampshire lake.
A member of the public made the grim discovery of a woman’s body lying face down in the water close to Wellstead Way in Hedge End.
Detectives say the fully clothed woman, who was aged in her 20s or 30s, may have been in the water for several hours. They are not treating the death as suspicious.
Police were called at around 3.30pm yesterday after a passer-by spotted the body and dialled 999. The area was taped off as officers examined the scene.
An investigation to determine the nature of the death is set to continue this afternoon when police are also hoping to contact next of kin to formally identify the body.
A post mortem examination will take place later this week.
