THREE new firms have snapped up premises in a soon-to-be-revamped business hub.

Property group Allied Developments and start-up web recruitment company Salesmatch have moved in to Medina Chambers, Town Quay, Southampton.

Allied Development, which moved staff across from a shared space in Ocean Village, has given space to boatbuilding client Green Marine, which has offices at Hythe and Porchester.

The new tenancy agreements were carried out on behalf of Associated British Ports (ABP) by property consultants Lambert Smith Hampton (LSH), which is in the process of securing more business in the area.

Bosses say news of a major £2.6m refurbishment, details of which were exclusively revealed by the Daily Echo last week, helped to entice new firms.

David Foster, LSH’s Southampton surveyor, said: “Town Quay is shortly to undergo a major redevelopment, having been given the go-ahead for an overhaul of the area.

“This will see all office space and common areas as well as external building facades refurbished, in order to provide a state-of-the-art, grade A business complex.

“This was a major factor in securing new tenants to the scheme.”

He added that the waterfront location and the links with the ferry terminals were also attractive features.

The redeveloped site will include the creation of a wide pedestrian boulevard running the length of Town Quay and reconfigured road layouts.

Southampton City Council also has plans to improve the surrounding area to make the location more attractive.

Other office suites in Town Quay between 1,033 and 4,965 square feet are available.
