AN ELDERLY woman and her daughter have been killed in a horror car crash, which has also left a man in intensive care.

Patricia McDonald, 86, from Fareham, and her 52-year-old daughter Sarah Fisher, from Gosport, died when their red Vauxhall Astra collided with another car.

The driver of a silver Vauxhall Signum, a 20-year-old Southampton man, is in intensive care following the incident.

The high speed crash happened on the A345 near Salisbury.

It happened just after 4pm on Saturday.

Wiltshire Police said one of the women was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other died in hospital shortly afterwards.

Great Western Ambulance Service sent out four ambulances and the Wiltshire Air Ambulance also attended the scene.

A spokesman for the Great Western Ambulance Service said: "The driver of one of the cars was declared dead at the scene, the passenger was taken to Salisbury District Hospital, but unfortunately died later there.

"The driver of the second car was airlifted to hospital and the passenger was treated for neck and back injuries while two people in the back were treated for minor injuries."

The 20-year-old Southampton man has been described as being in a serious but stable condition at Salisbury District Hospital.

Three other men were treated for minor injuries following the crash.
