STAFF at The Nuffield are hoping to give a £12,000 boost to their acclaimed educational work – but they need your support.

There’s less than a week to go until the launch of the Big Arts Give Christmas Challenge, a new scheme which aims to help arts organisations up their income through donations.

The Southampton theatre is one of 14 organisations in the south selected to participate in the scheme, which gets under way at 10am on Monday.

Deborah Edgington, from The Nuffield, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for us to double every donation £1 for £1, enabling us to double the impact our acclaimed educational and youth community work has on hundreds of young people throughout Southampton and further afield.

“But in order to take advantage of this it is crucial that our supporters go online and donate.”

Any money raised will support schemes including an exciting youth theatre project called KONTAKT, a series of one-to-one performances with 20 young people.

A 16- to 19-year-old will sit at a table and invite an adult audience member to take a seat opposite them for a unique experience aimed at helping teenagers better engage with adults.

The Nuffield’s celebrated youth work has included its most recent project The Bacchae, pictured. Hampshire Youth Theatre, in its 12th year, presented a seductive retelling of Euripides’ searing and vibrant play.

The match funding pot is limited, so the sooner your donation is made, the more chance The Nuffield will have of doubling it.
