SAINTS legend Matt Le Tissier will be among the judges of a new awards contest to celebrate Southampton’s unsung community heroes.

The Daily Echo-backed I Am Southampton Awards will be recognising exceptional residents whose determination to make a difference has helped to make Southampton a better place to live.

The panel of judges will also include BBC South Today anchor Sally Taylor, Daily Echo editor Ian Murray and Southampton City Council leader Cllr Royston Smith.

Nominations have been pouring in but there is still time to enter the awards.

Gongs will be handed out in the following four categories: The Good Neighbour, The Young Carer, The Healthy Icon and The Foster Carer.

To nominate someone you will need to say what their outstanding contribution is in 100-200 words, as well as their name, their connection to you and the category you are nominating them for.

The deadline for submissions is December 1.

Nominees must live in Southampton.

An awards ceremony will be held in the mayor’s parlour at Southampton Civic Centre on December 14 from 6pm to 8pm.
