THE SNOW has forced a city walk-in centre to close for today.
Due to staff being unable to make it into work, the Bitterne NHS Walk-In Centre will remain closed for the rest of today.
However, to ensure residents have access to healthcare in Southampton, staff who are able to travel from Bitterne have been asked to lend a hand to those at Southampton's Minor Injuries Unit, on the Royal South Hants Hospital site.
Door will remain open until 9.30pm.
It is hoped the Bitterne centre will reopen as normal tomorrow morning at 8am.
A spokesperson from Solent Healthcare said: "Patients are also advised to only visit their GP Practice where it is absolutely necessary and to call to cancel routine appointments where possible.
"This will help the local health system to cope with extra pressure during the adverse weather conditions and help to avoid congestion on roads and falls in the icy and snowy conditions."
