CRUNCH TALKS to avert strike action by hospital cleaners in Southampton had to be cancelled today due to the heavy snow.
Unison union officials and management from Southampton University Hospitals NHS Trust were due to meet today, with ACAS, in a last ditch attempt to avoid industrial action.
But because of the bad weather ACAS officials were stuck in Fleet and unable to reach the city.
Andy Straker, regional organiser for Unison, told the Daily Echo that they hope to rearrange the meeting for next week but if that is not possible they will have to make a decision on what to do next.
Last week members voted 98 per cent in favour of taking to the picket line outside Southampton General Hospital over the long-running pay dispute.
Andy said: "From the result of the ballot we legally have 28 days during which to take action so if a meeting cannot be arranged for next week we will have to decided what to do."
