A HOODED raider snatched cash from the till of a convenience store after threatening staff.

The man, who was covering his face with a balaclava, struck at the Co-op in Warburton Road, Thornhill, Southampton, at 9.55pm on Monday, shortly before the shop closed.

He demanded that staff open the till, before grabbing notes from inside and making off in the direction of Dumbleton Towers. It is not yet known how much money he took.

Police appealing for witnesses have released this CCTV image of the raider. He is white, 5ft 10in and slim, and wore a blue/green Parka-style jacket.

Det Con Scott Spafford said: “If anyone thinks they recognise the man from the picture, particularly from his clothing, please get in contact.”

Anyone with information should call Det Con Spafford at Bitterne CID on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
