Police officers will be carrying out spot checks in a Southampton shopping precinct as part of a Christmas crime crackdown.
Extra police and community support officers will be out in Shirley High Street and its shops in a bid to prevent and detect theft, street robberies and anti-social behaviour.
Police said the stop checks will be carried out on people “acting suspiciously”.
The additional officers, both in uniform and plain clothes, will work with the local Shirley ‘shop watch’.
They will also offer advice and reassurance as people go about their festive shopping.
