SCORES of people attended a public meeting in Bishop’s Waltham to discuss the future of the town pond.

About one hundred people heard about the latest developments on the North Pond.

Recently efforts have been stepped up to tackle the willows and other trees that have sprung up particularly since the 1980s.

The meeting heard from Alan Inder and Barry Jerome of the Bishop’s Waltham North Pond Working Group.

A new management plan was agreed earlier this year, to make fish rescue easier in the summer and also to open up the views of the pond.

Volunteer sessions have proved popular with many local people taking part, the meeting heard.

Also speaking was Rod Murchie of the Environment Agency and Andy Neve from the Portsmouth Water Company.

A collection at the end of the meeting raised £97.
