A Hampshire charity is appealing for people across the county to help plug a £5,000 hole left in its budget by the severe winter weather.

The Honeypot Charity, which helps provide support and free holidays to young carers aged from five to 12 years old, was forced to cancel its Christmas fund-raising concert last week, which would have raised the sum from ticket sales and a collection on the night. Now the charity’s head of fund-raising, Karen Betancourt-Jess, is asking people to donate what they can to help make their 800 children happy this Christmas.

“We had sold nearly 300 tickets and a lot of people are now obviously requesting their money back, and on the night we always hold a bucket collection which always brings in another two to three thousand pounds.

Anyone who can donate to the charity can contact Karen on 023 8089 0002, or by emailing karen-@honeypot.co.uk.
