The Mayor of Winchester has flicked the switch on a dazzling display at one couple’s home.

Henry and Evelyn Jane have been decorating their house at Christmas for the past 25 years and hold fund-raising parties to collect money for Naomi House children’s hospice.

This year, around 60 people gathered at the couple’s home at Main Road, Colden Common as the mayor, Cllr Richard Izard, switched on the impressive display of festive lights.

Henry, 73, said: “We’ve been collecting donations for charity for about 25 years and it’s great to have the mayor here this year as it makes it a bit more special.”

The couple’s house is the latest entry into this year’s Festive Homes competition, which is backed by the Electrical Safety Council and the Southern Daily Echo.
