A HAMPSHIRE road has reopened after an elderly woman was hit by a car.
The incident happened shortly before 2.45pm today and the Ringwood Road from the Calmore Crossroads towards Totton was closed until nearly 7pm for accident investigators to examine the scene and for the recovery of the vehicle.
Police attended after reports that an 87-year-old woman was involved in a collision with a white Vauxhall Astra.
She was taken to Southampton General Hospital with serious, but not thought to be life threatening injuries.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or saw the woman or the vehicle beforehand should call Hampshire Police on 101 quoting operation Kite.
