AN out-of-work electrician suffered a fractured nose and eye socket as well as blurred vision after being headbutted in a Southampton takeaway.
Drunken Craig Pierson launched his unprovoked attack in a misplaced perception Mitchell Thomas and his girlfriend had been talking about him.
The city crown court heard they had been out celebrating a birthday when she recognised Pierson, and he made abusive remarks.
The pair walked off to a takeaway but Pierson appeared asking what they were saying. He was told to leave and went outside but then burst through the door and without warning headbutted Mr Thomas.
The court was told that as a result of the attack, he suffered flashbacks, had to wear stronger glasses and had lost confidence.
Pierson, 21, of Causton Gardens, Eastleigh, admitted inflicting grievous bodily harm and received a 12-month suspended sentence coupled with an order to do 200 hours’ community work, and pay his victim £500 compensation.
