A pub singer will today be quizzed by police after singing Kung Fu Fighting in front of Chinese people.
It is thought the passer-by on the Isle of Wight was offended by the lyrics of the 1974 chart hit and complained to police.
Simon Ledger, 34, who performs in a pub in Sandown was later arrested- in a Chinese restaurant.
The ordeal happened on Sunday at the Driftwood Beach Bar when Simon and his friend performed the Carl Douglas hit.
Simon said he had already started the song when a mum and son walked past them while they were performing. He said the son made a rude gesture and snapped the musicians on his mobile phone.
Simon told how police called him when he was later enjoying a Chinese meal when they arranged to meet and arrest him.
He is reported as saying: “It’s political correctness gone potty.”
The baffled pub singer was bailed until today when he will return to the police station.
A police spokesman, said: “Police are investigating an allegation of racially-aggravated harassment.”
