Southampton hospital bosses have been fined more than £2,000 for breaching single-sex ward rules.
Last month Southampton General Hospital treated patients in mixed sex accommodation nine times, racking up fines worth £2,500.
This is triple the number of breaches the hospital was fined for in April.
The only other hospital to breach the rules was the Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester which had just one breach, costing them £250.
In April the government introduced £250 fines for every time a hospital broke singlesex ward regulations without any justification.
