A 20-year-old appeared in court today accused of the murder of an aspiring teenage model.

Elliott Turner faced magistrates in Bournemouth charged with killing 17-year-old Hampshire student, Emily Longley on May 7 this year.

Turner, of Queenswood Avenue, Bournemouth, is also charged with perverting the course of justice between May 6 and July 21.

He was remanded into custody and ordered to appear before Winchester Crown Court on July 28.

Miss Longley was living with relatives in Bournemouth when she was found dead at an address in Queenswood Avenue on May 7.

The Brockenhurst college student, who had worked at fashion retailer Topshop, had been living in the UK for around eight months after leaving her family in Auckland, New Zealand.

Earlier today, Turner's parents Leigh, 53, and wife Anita, 50, appeared before the same court to face of charge of intending to pervert the course of justice between May 6 and July 21.

The couple, also of Queenswood Avenue, were released on bail and told to appear before Bournemouth Crown Court on October 3.

Miss Longley's family said in a statement yesterday: ''We are confident that the police are doing all that they can to establish exactly what happened to Emily and we are grateful for their support.

''We would like to once again thank everyone for their messages of sympathy and the many tributes that have been made to Emily.

''Of course, we now await the outcome of upcoming court cases and ask that we are given space to come to terms with our tragic loss.''
