A PEDESTRIAN has suffered potentially life-threatening injuries after being knocked down by a moped in a hit-and-run crash in Southampton.
The victim, who is male, has been taken to Southampton General Hospital following the collision on West End Road, Bitterne at 3.09pm.
The police spotter helicopter has taken to the skies over the city as part of the hunt for the scooter rider, who failed to stop at the scene, near the Sainsbury's store.
Police have closed West End Road while they examine the scene.
Diversions are currently in place around Lance's Hill.
