A WALKER found dead on a mountain in North Wales has today been named as Christopher Currie.
The 47-year-old, from Fair Oak, in Eastleigh, was found by mountain rescue teams yesterday.
It is believed he fell while out walking on Cader Idris in Gwynedd, a peak popular with walkers in the Snowdonia National Park.
He was reported missing on Saturday night and his body found at 9am. He was taken by helicopter to Ysbyty Gwynedd Hospital in Bangor, but was pronounced dead.
The alarm had been raised after Mr Currie failed to return from a walking trip.
Rescuers spent the night searching the near-3,000ft peak with dogs in wind and fog.
It was only the following morning his body was discovered.
North Wales Police are investigating but the death is not thought to be suspicious.
He was airlifted to hospital but could not be saved.
The body was found at around 9am beneath a cliff face on Cader Idris, near Barmouth.
