Ofsted gave Townhill Junior School the lowest possible grade, saying its 300 pupils were not receiving an acceptable standard of education.
Now the new head teacher has vowed to turn the school’s fortunes around within 18 months.
Matt Sambrook believes improvements have already been made since the inspection earlier this term.
The school now faces repeat visits from inspectors every three months to check progress is being made.
