THIEVES posing as water company officials have targeted a 105-year-old woman during a distraction burglary in a Hampshire town.
Two men arrived at the frail pensioner’s home in Arrow Close, Eastleigh and while one of them engaged her in conversation in the kitchen, the other slipped out of view.
After they left the property, she found her wardrobe had been opened and £80 cash and jewellery - including a 22ct gold wedding ring belonging to her mother – had been stolen.
Both men were white, aged in their 40s, with Hampshire accents, large builds and wearing brown jackets.
Because of their resemblance, the woman thought the men may have been brothers.
She has been left shaken by the ordeal and is now having trouble sleeping.
Anyone with information about the incident, which happened between 2.45pm and 5pm on Tuesday November 29, should contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
