NOEL Gallagher, Elbow and Biffy Clyro will appear at next year’s Isle of Wight Festival, it was announced today.

They will be joined by Example, Noah & The Whale, The Vaccines and Madness all playing the main stage of the festival next June.

Elbow, who have received huge critical acclaim throughout their career, will bring their award winning sound on the Friday night.

Scottish trio Biffy Clyro, who got the festival crowd jumping last year with an explosion of mammoth riffage and fizzing pop vocals, will return to the festival on Saturday night having conquered the rock world.

Noel Gallagher, who captured the voices, hopes and dreams of a generation with Oasis, returns with his masterpiece Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds.

He will be appearing on the main stage as a special guest to the legendary Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band who will take the headline slot on the Sunday.

Organisers are yet to reveal two more superstar acts to complete the Friday and Saturday night line-ups.

David Bowie, The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Snow Patrol, REM, Coldplay, Pink, and Amy Winehouse have all graced the Isle of Wight stage in the ten years since its reincarnation.

John Giddings, the festival's promoter, said: “We are very proud to bring the cream of British talent to the island next summer, it's shaping up to be another bumper year.”

The 2012 event, a bumper year owing to the cancellation of Glastonbury, will now take place from June 22 to 24.
