A BURGLAR was caught after he left blood at a home he broke into.

Shaun Blything broke into the family home in Malmsbury Avenue in Shirley while the occupants were out, riffling through every room and stealing £15,000 worth of jewellery, electrical goods, and games consoles.

Blood was found at the scene and from it police identified Blything, of Constable Road, Southampton.

Southampton Crown Court heard how Blything had been handed a suspended sentence for a previous burglary and attempted burglary just days before he carried out the crime.

Andy Houston, mitigating for the 22-year-old who admitted burglary along with breaching the suspended sentence, said Blything was unable to get a job due to a poor education and as a result had turned to crime.

Blything was given a three year and four month prison sentence.
