US Rock and Roll legend Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers are the latest headliners to be announced at the Isle of Wight Festival 2012.
It will be their first UK festival performance and their first concert in the UK for more than 20 years.
They will join Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band among the top acts for the three-day festival which starts on June 22 next year.
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, will take to the stage at Seaclose Park on the Friday night.
Last week organsiers announced a host of other acts for the event, which attracts more than 60,000 revellers to the Island every year.
They include Elbow, Biffy Clyro, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Example, Noah & The Whale, The Vaccines, Madness, and The Christians.
John Giddings, the Festival’s promoter, said: “We are proud to present Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers at the Isle of Wight Festival finally – it has taken years to achieve but I’m sure it will be worth the wait – they are one of the greatest rock and roll bands of all time.”
