A SHOP owner has been fined after “serious fire safety hazards” were found at his Hampshire takeaway.

Iskender Anik had been issued a Prohibition Order in 2009 banning anyone from sleeping at Istanbul Grill in Market Street, Eastleigh, following inspections of his premises by Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service (HFRS).

At a hearing at Southampton Magistrates’ Court, Anik pleaded guilty to breaching the order, along with four other fire safety offences, and was fined £5,400.

He has appealed against the sentence, but the judge upheld the fine.
