SOUTHAMTPON based cruise ship Arcadia was last night last night forced to delay a stop in France to take shelter from gales in the Channel.
The vessel, on a three night party cruise to Belgium and France, was unable dock at Le Havre last night amid winds up to 50mph.
But passengers on board the P&O cruise ship were this morning enjoying the bustling French port and taking tours to Paris.
A P&O spokeswoman said the decision to cancel the stop last night was taken for safety and comfort of passengers.
The 83,500 ton ship, which can accommodate up 2,388 passengers, is scheduled to return to Southampton tomorrow morning.
Severe gale warnings have been issued for later today for ships sailing in the Channel.
