A TEENAGER has been killed today after a crash on a Hampshire road.
Police were called to Lepe Road near Blackfield at around 6.45am amid reports a blue Daewoo Matiz had rolled over.
A man aged in his late teens from the local area was found inside the car and pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.
Next-of-kin have been informed.
Part of Lepe Road was closed for five hours to allow officers from Hampshire Constabulary’s Roads Policing Unit to investigate.
The road re-opened at around 1.30pm.
Senior Investigating Officer, Acting Sergeant Dave Dyer said: “I would like to thank other emergency services and members of the public for their assistance and co-operation so far. At this early stage of the investigation, it is believed no-one else was travelling in the car and no other vehicles were involved in this collision.
“Our initial enquiries are focused on how this car appears to have gone out of control and rolled over on Lepe Road. We’re appealing for witnesses to what happened or anyone who remembers seeing a blue Daewoo Matiz being driven south on Lepe Road during the early hours of this morning (Saturday).”
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Roads Policing Unit at Totton Police Station by phoning 101 quoting Operation Skipjack. Information can be given anonymously by phoning the independent Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
