POLICE are hunting two men who attacked a taxi driver after he picked them up from a Southampton nightspot.
The driver had picked them up from Leisure World and was travelling towards Sholing where they had asked to go. As they got near Itchen Bridge the men started getting abusive towards him so he pulled up outside the back entrance to Lucia Foster Welsh Halls in Canute Road and asked them to get out.
They attacked the car as they got out before one of them pulled out a knife. They ran off after another taxi and a car pulled up alongside them.
Police are now trying to trace the witnesses in the car and taxi that pulled up and also anyone else who may have seen what happened. They are also keen to hear from anyone else with information about the incident that happened around 3am on Sunday.
They are asked to call PC Cat Symonds at Southampton Central Police Station on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
