A MOTORIST had to be cut out of his car after a motorway smash.
The driver’s Renault Megane careered into the central reservation of the eastbound M27 and eventually came to a stop on the hard shoulder, after apparently colliding with the back of a recovery truck.
Fire crews cut the roof off the car to allow paramedics to get him out of the vehicle because of fears he had suffered a spinal injury.
The man was taken to Southampton general Hospital following the crash, which happened between Junction 5 at Eastleigh and Junction 7 for Hedge End, at around 10pm yesterday.
Firefighters from Eastleigh, St Mary’s and Hightown attended the incident.
