St. Mary's Church, one of the the largest churches in Southampton, was the scene for the memorial service in the aftermath of the sinking.
Hundreds of White Star Line crew, relatives and friends of those who perished attended the service which brought Southampton to a standstill.
At the time, the spire of the church was still under construction.
