THE RICH and vibrant culture of a west African country can be experienced during an event to celebrate Balck History Month.

The first ever Ayiko Ghanaian Cultural Family Day is being held at Mottisfont Abbey on Saturday October 7 in a bid to celebrate and preserve the rich tapestry of positive African culture by bringing a rare and priviledged taste of the histroy, ceremony and inside view of the traditional arts and music of Ghana.

Activities on the day include African drumming and percussion workshops, African dance workshops, storytelling, African arts and crafts, face-painting, food and an educational area.

The workshop providers are all talented Ghanaian nationals, traditionally dressed and sharing their enthusiasm for their culture through music, drumming, dance, arts and crafts and other fully interactive demonstrations and activities for all ages.

The David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation will also explain the famous artist's commitment to preserving the wildlife of Africa.

The event runs from 11am to 4pm and is being organised by the Hampshire Development Education Centre. For more information call 01962 856106.
