Although not around the docks of Southampton, Winn Road in the city's Portswood area was home to a key figure in the tragedy.
Captain Edward J. Smith lived at Woodhead, a large house at The Avenue end of the road.
The house no-longer exists, however a block of flats now stands at the site of the house, which was number 34.
The block is called Cheltenham Court and a memorial to the captain, who went down with the ship, marks the connection with the tragedy.
