THE course was spectacular and the scenery breathtaking - but the 670 who ran their hearts out for charity scarcely noticed.

They were too busy battling gusty winds and heavy showers while helping raise £50,000 for Cancer Research UK.

The 10K run, one of 20 taking place at venues especially chosen for their beauty across the country, was held in the grounds of the Beaulieu estate.

The event, which was held at Beaulieu for the first time, was officially started by Lord Montagu, pictured.

Cancer Research UK spokeswoman Hannah Wilding said: "We had a great turnout with 670 people taking part.

"Everyone was in great spirits and the atmosphere was fantastic. It was a windy, rainy day but no one let that get to them.

"It was wonderful of Beaulieu to allow us to run around the grounds. The views were stunning and it was a really unique experience for the runners."
