WORD is things are decidedly calmer in the troubled world of Pete Doherty these days.

Reports of him romping on the lawn of his rehab clinic entwined with his on/off love Kate Moss, pictured right, have been circulating, as has news of the couple house-hunting in New York.

What appears to be certain, though, is that Pete has got Babyshambles back on the road for a full UK tour in the company of The Holloways and The Noisettes - a package that arrives at Southampton Guildhall tonight.

Following a storm of bad press after the band's semi-secret Bournemouth gig at Twisters earlier this year, Babyshambles were dropped by their record label and saw their singer reclaim his crown as Britain's Worst Drug Addict.

But since then Pete's been doing his best to keep out of the gossip pages and won widespread praise for his showing at the Get Loaded In The Park festival in May.

He's had the rejuvenated band back in the studio working on their second album and lined up a new record deal.

He's also planning to release a solo album later in the year.

Good news for fans of his literate guitar pop then.

Meanwhile, it seems the perennially-troubled rocker is following his famous girlfriend's footsteps into the fashion world.

Kate Moss may have landed a megabucks deal to design togs for Topshop but now Pete is set to front and design a range of clothes for the label Gio-Goi.

The 27-year-old was dumped by the Manchester company because of his "unpredictable" behaviour but bosses have had a change of heart.

A source said: "Gio-Goi really wanted Pete to be involved but they had to lose him when the drugs issue started getting out of hand.

"His stint in rehab seems to have gone well and they are excited about working with him again."
