SHE will be watched by the world as she celebrates 60 years on the throne in spectacular celebrations.

Meanwhile in Hampshire, meet the woman who will become a Queen this weekend.

Deborah Lester will become Mrs Queen after saying “I do” to fiance Jon Queen in Hampshire’s very own royal wedding.

The couple first met 40 years ago at school, but only got together after a chance reunion.

Following a whirlwind romance, the patriotic pair will finally tie the knot on Monday in celebrations themed around a traditional British jubilee knees-up.

The regal romantics sent out Union Flag invitations, and their party will feature bunting, red, white and blue flowers, flags and cupcakes complete with crowns.

Deborah, 39, said: “I couldn’t think of a more appropriate time to marry Jon. He really is my knight in shining armour and it isn’t every day you become a Queen. I am overwhelmed.

I have waited a long time to be with Jon and can’t wait to be his bride. All my friends have been calling me HRH – I could definitely get used to that!”

The pair, whose families live just streets apart in Netley, first met when they were just five at the village’s infant school and went to the same schools together.

Unknown to Deborah, Jon had always admired her from afar but never had the confidence to ask her out.

They both lost contact – even getting married on the same day of the same year, just two miles apart – and Deborah’s church was even struck by lightning as she said her vows – in what she believes was a freak sign.

But thanks to a message on Facebook the pair got back in touch in August last year and have been inseparable ever since.

On Christmas Day – just four months after getting back in contact – Jon proposed, and it took Deborah just three weeks to arrange the ‘royal’ wedding.

Deborah, who works in corporate sales, said: “I had absolutely no hesitation in saying ‘yes’.

The more we talked again, the more we realised how spooky events had been.

“I realised we were soulmates and I had wasted almost 40 years of my life waiting for him.”

The couple, who live in Locks Heath, will tie the knot at Petersfield register office before a Jubilee garden party for 130 guests at Deborah’s mum and dad’s home in Netley.

Jon, 41, who is an assistant retail manager, said: “You really couldn’t make our story up, it is uncanny that we have known each other all our lives.

“Twenty-odd years ago it was always her smiley, sparkling eyes I loved, but she would have eaten me alive then.

“It is just about the right time and the right place.

“Finally Deborah will be my Queen.”
