Southampton City Council have released a statement following the misadventure verdict into the deaths of two firefighters in the city.
Councillor Warwick Payne, portfolio holder for housing, Southampton City Council, said:
“The death of fire fighters Alan Bannon and Jim Shears was a tragedy felt by the whole city, and on behalf of the council I would like to extend my sympathy to their families and colleagues for their loss.
“Following the inquest, the council will continue to work with our partners to implement the recommendations of the coroner to ensure the safety of our residents and emergency service personnel called to their assistance.”
