LYMINGTON’S Ben Ainslie refused to rule out a crack at another Olympic Games in 2016 as he basked in the glow of his miraculous gold medal win over the weekend.
Ainslie was crowned the most successful Olympic sailor in history on Sunday after coming from behind with some faultless Finn class sailing to overhaul Jonas Hoegh-Christensen.
This competition was the hardest for Ainslie – he readily admitted that – but missing out on Great Britain’s London 2012 gold rush was not an option and after going back to the well to win gold at his home games he is not ready to sail off into the sunset just yet.
Ainslie said: “Regarding another Olympics , you never say never but it would be impossible to ever experience anything better than this so it would need to be a very good reason to come back.
“I do like living on the edge – it’s interesting that way but it wasn’t on purpose this week."
